The Arctic North Expedition
The North Expedition Conference
A once-in-a-lifetime experience to take your breath away
1 - 9 July 2019
Exploring the Arctic is one of those lifelong dreams that rarely disappoints even the most passionate travellers. While the climate is a main ticket item, the fascinating and rare wildlife coupled with the awe-inspiring ferocity of Arctic glaciers are just the tip of the iceberg of what you'll be seeing during our Arctic Cruise.
Discovering the Arctic is an immersive experience that many can only dream of, from the exceptional immersive through to the rare intensity of the Arctic’s beauty, you will have an experience of a lifetime that will continue to amaze you long after your return from this incredible region.
Over the 8 days at sea aboard Le Boréal, in the company of our specialist teams, you will discover the exceptional flora and fauna that lives in these extreme conditions, where temperatures reach -30C in winter. Outings and shore visits in Zodiac® inflatables with your naturalist guides including hikes and sailing in Spitsbergen’s fjords are just the beginning of an incredible trip.
This journey will take you on the trail of walruses, which can be admired near the 14th July Glacier, as well as the traces of the polar bear, the lord of the Arctic, which you will be able to admire in its natural environment.
Learn about the incredible array of wildlife in their natural habitat, such as polar bears, Arctic foxes, Svalbard reindeer, Arctic terns, walruses, whales, puffins, while relaxing onboard the luxurious ‘Le Boreal’ Ponant ship as we make our way through forgotten lands where ice floes break apart and a sun doesn’t appear to set below a horizon.
The academic and professional program has always been the centrepiece of our conferences, but an equally important part is the networking activities we organise outside the formal program. Over the years many delegates have forged professional links with other practitioners arising out of meeting for the first time at the conferences. The informal networks established have led to a mutual referring of clients and, through being aware of other practitioners’ specialties; practitioners have gained access to professional resources which previously would have been either inaccessible or unknown.
Delegates have also reported that the informal interaction with other delegates has led to the cross-pollination of ideas, exchange of methodologies and an enhancement of professional camaraderie among fellow practitioners. We encourage all delegates to treat CPE’s conferences as a genuine networking event.
