Meet and greet your speakers, delegates and conference team over a cocktail as you take in views of Whistler Blackcomb Mountain. Catch the Fire & Ice Show which can be seen from this event - where Whistler's best skiers and riders jump and flip through a blazing ring of fire accompanied by fire spinners, a DJ and fireworks display.

Welcome Dinner

Continue the night with your peers — new and old! Enjoy a delicious three course dinner with paired wines, overlooking the base of Whistler mountain.

Bus Transfers


CPE chartered buses have been arranged for the first and last day of conference. 

The arrivals bus will depart Vancouver International Airport arrivals terminal at 9am on Sunday 7 January 2018 and travel to the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre via Pan Pacific Vancouver.

The departure bus will leave the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre at 11:30am on Sunday 14 January 2017 and will drop delegates to the Vancouver International Airport departure terminal via Pan Pacific Vancouver.

Prices for the transfers (one-way) are $55 for adults and $33 for kids (12 and under)

Estimated travel time is 2.5 hours (one-way). Please note the bus will not pick up/ drop off delegates to/from individual hotels in Vancouver or Whistler, other than the locations provided above. If you are unable to make this transfer, private transfers can be organised with CPE Travel.

Important Notes


International travellers wishing to visit Canada must apply for an ETA visa, including visa-exempt passport holders from Australia and New Zealand. Applications cost CAD7 and should be made at least 72 hours prior to scheduled departure. No ETA Visa, no entry into Canada. It’s an easy process - visit the ETA website to apply: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/eta.asp


We recommend packing plenty of winter coats, scarves, thermals, gloves and beanies. Temperatures in the village can drop to as low as -10 degrees celsius and -15 degrees celsius on the mountains. For skiers, we recommend taking your own ski clothing, however there are plenty of shops to purchase or hire your own in the village centre. Those sidewalks can be slippery so don’t forget to pack some good quality boots with grip!


Voltage in Canada is 120v/60Hz with type A or B “NEMA” plugs. Adaptors and converters can be purchased from a variety of stores in Australia before you go overseas. 


AUD 1 equates to approximately CAD 0.98 (almost $ for $).

Tipping is as expected in Canada as it is in the USA; it can be a little complicated and easily forgotten by foreign visitors. It pays to carry a lot of $1 bills throughout your time in Canada. Some restaurants will allow you to include gratuity on your credit card bill but cash is always preferred. If you are unsure of exactly how much to tip, the information below may be a helpful guide as a minimum:

  • The customary tipping rate is 10-15% for taxi drivers, and 15-20% for bar tenders and waiters, unless the gratuity has already been charged on the restaurant bill
  • Bars: $1 per drink
  • Airport and hotel porters: $2 per bag, minimum  $5 per cart
  • Hotel maids: $2 per day ($5 per day in 5-star hotels)
  • Concierge: $10-$20 depending on level of service
  • A doorman who hails or helps you into a cab: $1-$2

Whilst it is a requirement in many countries to include all taxes in the final price, Canadian stores will usually list a price without taxes. Restaurants must list which taxes are included or not included in their prices; if taxes aren’t included you should anticpate that the total cost of your meal will be up to 32% (taxes and gratuity) more than the listed price. GST in Canada is 5% and you can expect to pay an additional Provincial Sales Tax (PST) of 7% in British Columbia.


Sessions will be held at the Pan Pacific Hotel Village Center. Conference sessions will be held on Monday 8 January, Tuesday 9 January, Thursday 11 January, and Friday 12 January 2018.

The final academic program will be provided at the welcome drinks events.


All delegates will receive regular updates and important notices via computer-generated text messages throughout the conference week. We ask that you do not respond to these messages, and instead, contact your on-location conference organisers by their local sim numbers (to be provided at the welcome drinks event).

Prepaid tourist sim cards can be purchased from a number of Canadian telecommunication companies, however depending on your requirements roaming can often be cheaper. Please advise the conference team of any new mobile numbers.


Conference activities are booked and pre-paid by CPE. For this reason, no refunds will be offered for any cancellations. We recommend taking out travel insurance. As a courtesy, please advise the CPE team of your intention to cancel any events as we will attempt to contact any "no-show" delegates.
