Academic Sessions
Please note that although we have a provision for the academic sessions below, the Academic Agenda will remain fluid until the final agenda is provided to you at the Welcome Drinks. 


The Attendee App
We have introduced a conference Attendee App, which is where the most up to date information for the Social Agenda and Academic Program will be noted. The Attendee App will be released in the week leading up to the conference. All details below are subject to change. 


Day 1: Monday 9 September | Welcome Drinks & Dinner

19:00 to 19:45 - Welcome Drinks

Delegates will meet in the foyer of Bairro Alto at 18:30 and walk to the restaurant, delegates can choose to take a taxi to the venue

To kick off the exciting conference week ahead, join your fellow delegates for welcome drinks on the deck of the Zambeze Restaurante with views that overlook Portugal.

Following the welcome drinks, enjoy a 3-course dinner served after a variety of starters.

Day 2: Tuesday 10 September | Social & Academic

09:30 to 12:30 - Guided Walking Tour of Lisbon’s Historical Sites
Meet in the foyer of the Bairro hotel by 09:15 to depart at 09:30.

Lisbon is a city full of character and history which makes it a beautiful city to visit and this tour will help you familiarise yourself with the picture-perfect destination. Led by an English-speaking guide, you will visit some of the most historical sites throughout Lisbon, topping it off with a coffee and a Portuguese tart.

Cost: $55.00 AUD per person 
Venue: Lisbon, Portugal 
Inclusions: Full English speaking guide, audio guide, 3 hour walking tour, coffee and a tart at a café recommended by the guide.

20:00 to Late - Dinner and Cabaret Show at Beco by José Avillez
Meet in front of Bairro Do Avillez no later than 19:45

Portugal’s most famous restaurateur, Chéf José Avillez offers guests the opportunity to experience a world where fine-dining meets show business through an immersive and memorable evening. Hidden behind a passageway inside the Bairro Do Avillez, enter a restaurant that will take you back to the 1920s. The doors to BECO’s are only open at the end of the day, and an Internationally-inspired menu accompanies the fully immersive experience. The menu features 12 different culinary moments created by José Avillez’ himself.

The atmosphere at BECO is exclusive, unconventional and sophisticated, and guests are encouraged to dress smart casual for this unforgettable event.

Places are limited and sold at first in basis.

Day 4: Thursday 12 September | Social & Academic

08:00 to 17:00 (approx.) - Full day trip to Sintra
Meet in the foyer of the Bairro Alto Hotel no later than 08:00 for an 08:15 Departure.

Jump on a private charter bus and drive (approx. 45 mins) from Lisbon to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sintra, known for its 19th Century romanticist architecture. We will visit the Pena Palace, which will be followed by some time to wander the picturesque streets where we then stop for lunch at the beautiful Seteais Hotel which is known to be the best restaurant in Sintra. On our return back to Lisbon we will pass the famous beaches of Cascais.

Cost: $245.00 AUD per person
Venue: Sintra and Cascais
Inclusions: Private return charter bus from Lisbon to Sintra, private english speaking guide, audio guide, entry and tour of the Pena Palace, and lunch at the Seteais Hotel.  


Day 5: Friday 13 September  | Academic & Social

20:00 to Late - Dinner and Show at Casa de Linhares
Delegates will meet in front of Casa de Linhares no later than 19:45

Come and enjoy a night of food and Fado music at the Casa De Linhares. Fado is the music of the people, and many performers sing in pubs and cafés to depict the realities of daily life. The Linhares house is the remains of a renaissance building that collapsed during an earthquake in 1755. Erected initially along the banks of the Tagus river in the 16th Century the building still retains its charm today.

Day 6: Saturday 14 September | Optional Social Activity, Feira da Ladra

09:00 to 12:00 - Lisbon Flea Market - Feira da Ladra
Meet in the foyer of Bairro Alto Hotel by 09:00 to join Trudy and Lorenzo for the visit to the infamous flea market.

One of Lisbon’s oldest flea markets, the Feira da Ladra (also known as the “Thieves Market”) has been running since the 12th Century. The market is open from dawn to early afternoon, and traders offer everything from junk to unexpected treasures that are laid out on blankets. Located around the Campo de Santa Clara, nearby the National Pantheon, stallholders sell hand-made artisan goods, CDs, books, clothes, coins, military objects, antiques and furniture.

Our conference directors will be visiting this vibrant market and delegates who wish to join them will meet in the foyer of the Bairro Alto Hotel at 09:00 to take public transport to the market.

To book any of the above activities, please complete the Activity Registration Form that was emailed to you previously with the Social Agenda Release email. Please complete one form per delegate. If your accompanying person is also attending the conference as a delegate please ask them to complete the form that was emailed to them.

Please note that activities are non-refundable as we must adhere to the suppliers terms and conditions. Please ensure that you have adequate Travel Insurance - if you don't have this, then you can contact CPE Travel to purchase a policy.
