Portofino, Italy

The Italian Riviera is defined by its pastel seaside towns nestled among a coastline of sheer rugged cliffs—including the colourful villages of Cinque Terre and the stylish resort towns such as Portofino, Rapallo and Santa Margherita Ligure.

Using Santa Margherita as our base, we will explore Liguria including the five fishing villages that are Cinque Terre: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. A UNESCO heritage site, Cinque Terre is rooted in antiquity, with the oldest of the villages founded in AD 643. The villages have slowly carved their way into the cliffs ever since.

Cape Town, South Africa

South Africa’s southern city of Cape Town is proudly multicultural. It is renowned for its mix of determined pioneers – Afrikaner descendants of the original Dutch colonists, the majority coloured community, descendants of European Jewish immigrants and more recently, Xhosa migrants who have arrived from the Eastern Cape.

Cape Town offers fabulous cuisine, interesting museums and a layered history.

Set between the imposing table mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town’s rugged natural beauty showcases itself at every turn.

Travel to the Table Mountain’s summit with the cable car for stunning wide vistas, and visit tumultuous Cape Point where Africa’s surly currents collide.

Our agenda included a private tour of Robben Island and the notorious prison where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 incarcerated years.

Mekong Delta, River Conference

Travel across two of the most beautiful, historic and friendly places in all of Asia — dynamic Vietnam and pastoral Cambodia — connected by the Mekong. Each country possesses its own unique charm and social traditions, its own tragic history and complex past.

We start our journey in Ho Chi Minh City (previously knownas Saigon), a city that offers a heady mixture of old and new, before embarking at My Tho. As the lifeblood of South East Asia, the Mekong teems with coloural floating villages and mementos of its French Colonial past.

Observe residents live, work and shop on the water, with villages like Cai Be and Vinh Long home to busy family-run factories and historic colonial houses. Traditional flat-bottomed boats of Vietnam, fill the narrow canals and inlets, carrying passengers, including you, to bustling waterfront markets. Ride a trishaw through towns and listen to the stories of village elders who have seen the many changes in Vietnam

New York, USA

So much of Australia’s legal tradition comes from the USA; what better place to explore this than the cultural and commercial heart of that country, New York. This is the place where class actions, the onslaught of medical litigation and issues like product liability began, then exploded. Although it is hard to put a finger on what makes “The Big Apple” buzz, it’s the city’s hyperactive rush that really draws people there.

New York is just magical in winter, filled with Christmas cheer, parades and a Central Park blanketed with white snow. On every street, steam rises up from the grates and passersby wear their classic New York trench coats and scarves as they move from one cosy place ot another, filled with warm food, great company and fabulous entertainment. See Broadway shows, visit the multitude of museums, galleries & wonderful restaurants, or shop til you drop.
