ACADEMIC SESSION – Private walking tour in small groups of the Langa Township

9:30am for 9:45am departure
Meet in Foyer Table Bay Hotel for private charter bus to and from Langa Township

Langa is the oldest 'township' in Cape Town and in decades past was the location of much resistance to apartheid. With registered guides who live within the community, we will witness how this area was initially set up to house the men brought in to work in factories, mines and industries.

This close up view enables us to meet people working and living in this community and gain a greater understanding of how it began and how it works today, whilst directly benefiting the people who live here. This event aims to show delegates not only the challenges but also the many exciting developments within these communities, and to bring us closer to seeing the 'real' fabric of South Africa.

Most South Africans would never have been to these communities which played an important role in the struggle to gain freedom. Seeing them first hand with a local will definitely better your understanding of this complex situation.

Cost: No charge to delegates as this is an academic event. Accompanying persons are welcome to join at $95 per person.
Dress Code: Comfortable shoes are recommended as you will be walking on uneven ground.
Includes: Return private charter bus to Langa Township and local guide.
Note: Please bring an open mind. Local Langa people are welcoming of tourists and tourism in their community, but please do not bring valuables such as jewellery or a big camera. You can bring a small camera or phone camera.
